Disc Awarded Secured by Design Status

Disc is pleased to announce we are now a member of Secured by Design, the flagship UK police initiative to help ‘design out’ crime through the use of high-quality, innovative products and processes. In order to achieve Secured by Design status, Disc had to adhere to rigorous test standards required by the police. Secured by Design is the only way for products and processes to achieve police recognition in the UK. The Secured by Design brand is owned and operated by Police Crime Prevention Initiatives on behalf of the UK police services.
The principles of Secured by Design have been proven to reduce the risk of crime and the fear of crime. Research has demonstrated that newly built developments built to Secured by Design standards are up to 75% less likely to be burgled and that refurbished developments employing Secured by Design principles are up to 63% less likely to experience crime. The London 2012 Olympic Park and the 2014 Commonwealth Games Village were both awarded full Secured by Design status.
Steve Lang, Managing Director of Disc says, ““Achieving Secured by Design status is an important milestone for Disc. It reinforces our commitment to helping communities reduce crime through secure, trusted, and police-recognised tools. We’re proud to be part of an initiative that puts safety and prevention at the heart of innovation.”
